about

Ian Rigby
I am a fourth-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Linguistics at the Univeristy of Southern California. Broadly, my research is interested in how phonological decisions are impacted by psychological concepts, such as prototypicality, saliency, or gender. I have recently been investigating sound-symbolic associations, both in the strength of their psychological representation and in how speakers might employ them to resolve visual ambiguities.
